Starting with Why

I started beciming aware of the concepts of incident management way back in 2001. I was initially inspired to start thinking about this by Rick Rescorla. If you don’t know him, he saved at least 2,687 people the day the airlines hit the World Trade Center.

The concept of being prepared by knowing what to do and making sure others knew what to do has shaped my career. I became ITIL certified. I’ve studied disaster response. I’ve set up and run training games. I’ve taught classes in incident response.

Knowing a response plan and using it at the right time is a unique sensation. Watching others use the plan successfully is amazing.
